A seminar on “ColorPilot Plus” automatic ink control and inline spot coating was held in MAN Roland Taiwan on 22 February 2008. Rundown of the seminar on that day was as follows:

In the live demonstration of ROLAND 705LV HiPrint, ColorPilot Plus automatic ink control mode had surprised all who joined the seminar. Particularly when printing extremely difficult jobs (which contained FM screening image and high printing resolution image), printing quality was still able to meet printing standards set in Japan even after thrice ColorPilot Plus automatic scanning ink controls. Operator did not require to press any ink setting button in the process. This operation mode is in fact hope of many printers, as many oversea printers request their orders to meet these set standards, instead of those made by naked eyes. ColorPilot Plus, the precise automatic ink control mode, was born due to the request. The operation mode has been adopted in the printing industry in Europe for a long time. Printers there have applied printing standards in their everyday’s production. To MAN Roland, this printing technology is not new, as it has been used for many years.
Presentation on water-based drip-off effect coating was come after introduction of ColorPilot Plus precise ink control mode. The drip-off effect coating means instead of using two coating units or part of Flexo coating plates, inline coating can be conducted with both glossy effect and mat effect by using only one coating unit. It can be conducted by use of part of the PS plate in the 5th printing unit. High coating accuracy and quick change over can be achieved by use of drip-off effect coating.
Another shocking demonstration is to change settings which let the press print from 150 gsm thin papers to 600 gsm thick cardboards in only one minute. It is not necessary to adjust the gripper height of transferter by hands. With QuickChange Job-Transferter’s auto-adjustment, settings of gripper height of transferter can completely adjusted just in two seconds no matter how many printing units there are. Such capability can be found in the automatic ROLAND 700HiPrint. Quality and efficient products with different thickness can be assured.
This seminar on “ColorPilot” automatic ink control and Inline spot coating application received enthusiastic discussion and feedback from all participants because the printing workflow shown in the demonstration was different from the tradition ways of printing and coating. It provided another new technology and application. MAN Roland Taiwan will continue to introduce new printing technology and application from Germany to customers as well as provide and assist them to add value in their printing workflow which results in having value-added products.
